Kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum) is known as the “Pharmacy of the Forest”. The small tree, with distinctive heart shaped leaves, is a significant and sacred plant to Maori. Among its many healing properties, it is reputed to soothe insect bites and stings, skin rashes, eczema, poor circulation, bruises, wounds, burns, aches and pains.
While we wait for our plants to mature, we are fortunate to have access to our friend’s Hamish and Mathilda’s bush block at Tirohia Farm, where we can gather Kawakawa and Titoki.
Made with: Maceration of Kawakawa leaves in Olive Oil and Beeswax.
